Reverend Dr Jasmin Brown, Overseer, and Bishop of the New United Bibleway Church of God in Jamaica and the United States said as Christians we are living beneath our privileges and it is time we start seeing miracles and healing taking place among the body of Christ.
“We are believing God for signs, wonders, and healing,” Dr Brown said as she addressed listeners on a zoom platform during a program known as ‘The Secret Place’ recently. “We are living beneath our Christian privileges. We have to pray too many times for the same sickness to be healed. If we cannot pray for a simple headache, how can we pray for cancer to be healed?” she asked strongly.
Dr Brown, who is also the Director and Founder of the Alpha & Omega School of Christian Leadership, made reference to Jeremiah 12:5…“If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?”
She explained that as Joel 2 states, God desires to pour out on us, and Jesus Himself acknowledged that miracles helped to build faith
“Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.” (John 4:48).
“Cessationists believe miracles do not happen anymore after Jesus ascended into heaven,” she pointed out. “However, God says in Malachi 3:6 — “ For I am the Lord, I change not…”.
She noted, therefore, that the miracles that He did then are still available to us today but we have to seek after God and make ourselves available unto Him.
Persons were reminded of the scripture in John 14:12 that says… “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father”. Thus confirming Dr Brown’s message that miracles are still open to the church today.
Miracle: An effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause.
Dr Brown made reference to the book of Daniel who himself saw miracles up close and was delivered and rescued.
Daniel 6: 27 — “He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”
Some scriptures that point to the fact that God wants to do miracles among us are:
Scriptures Confirming Miracles:
♦ Acts 2:22 — “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.”
♦ Mark 16:15-18 — “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
♦ Acts 5:12-18 — “The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.”
♦ Hebrews 2:4 — “God also testified to it by signs, wonders, and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”
Not only does He want to do miracles among us but he wants to heal the sick among us. After all Hebrews 13:8 states that “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”
Scriptures Confirming Healing:
♦ Exodus 15:26 — “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.”
♦ Psalm 103:1-3 — “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.”
♦ Matthew 4:23-24 — “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.”
♦ Matthew 8:16 — “When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick.”
♦ Luke 6: 17-19 — “And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.”
♦ Luke 8: 43-47 — “ And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.”
♦ Luke 9: 1-2 — “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.”
♦ John 4: 48 — “Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.”
♦ Hebrews 2: 4 — “God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?”
♦ Matthew 8: 1-3 — “When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”
♦ Matthew 8: 8-13 — “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.”
♦ John 14: 12-14 — “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.”
♦ Malachi 3:6 — “ For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”
Not only is the body of Christ expected to step into our blessings but Dr Brown pointed out that God wants us to take our families with us. God wants to bless our families.
Dr Brown said we should be standing in the gap and believing God that our families will be blessed, delivered, and saved because God wants us to pray for our families, not just ourselves.
“You should make it mandatory that your children go to church with you, that they attend Sunday schools,” she explained. “If you have an unsaved spouse encourage and invite them to church. Even if they are not at home send them the zoom link and invite them lovingly to join with you. Don’t force, but urge them. A song or scripture can touch their hearts. As the Bible says… ‘as for me and my house…” So God wants to save our families, not just us — but our entire families. We have a responsibility to pray for them and to encourage them,” she noted.
Dr Brown went on to state that the church of God is filled with ladies while the men are outside. Therefore, wives should encourage their spouses, encourage their children, and encourage their siblings.
“As we pray, put your family’s name on the altar and cry out…”Lord save them!!”. Our brothers, our sisters, our parents, our children, grandchildren — whoever we have as our families, put them before the Lord!”
Scriptures Confirming Blessings Upon Our Family:
Here are some scriptures confirming that while God wants to work miracles and heal, He also wants to bless our families.
♦ Joel 2: 28-30 — “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.”
♦ Psalm 115:14 — “The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.”
♦ 2 Peter 3: 9 — “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
♦ Acts 16:31 — “And they said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
♦ Hebrew 11:7 — “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”
♦ Genesis 7:1 — “And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.”
♦ 2 Peter 2:5 — “and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly.”
♦ Exodus 12: 3-4 — “Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb.”
♦ Acts 16: 25-34 — “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.” Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.”
♦ Joshua 24:15 — “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
♦ Acts 18:8 — “Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized.”
